How to install MySQL for NCompPOS

1. MySQL is a requirement for NCompPOS to work.

1.1 Download and Run Mysql server from http://www.mysql.com

1.2 You will see the below screen at the start, click 'Next' on it.

1.3 Select 'Complete' and then press the 'Next'.

1.4 Click 'Install', Then it will work for a while, installing the software.

1.5 Click “Next” across all the windows until below window is seen.

1.6 Click “Finish”, Make sure the 'Configure the MySQL Server now' are Selected and then press the 'Finish' Button.

1.7 Click 'Next' until you get to below screen.

1.8 Select 'Detailed Configuration' and press then 'Next'

1.9 Select 'Developer Machine' and press 'Next'.

1.10 Select 'Multifunctional Database' and then click 'Next'

1.11 Select 'Decision Support (DSS)/OLAP' then click 'Next'

1.12 Make sure 'Enable TCP/IP Networking' is selected and then click 'Next'. Also make sure the 'Add firewall exception for this port' is clicked

1.12 Select 'Standard Character Set' and then click 'Next'

1.13 Make sure both 'Install As Windows Service' and 'Include Bin Directory in Windows PATH' are selected. And then click 'Next'

1.14 Make sure 'Modify Security settings' is Selected, and type in the Password and Confirm it. (Remember what the Password are you will need it later).

Also Make sure the 'Enable root access from remote machines' is selected. Otherwise this server will not be seen from other computers only localhost.

1.15 Press 'Execute' Button, make sure there are no errors.

1.16 click on the 'Finish' Button. If this step fails then its 9 out of 10 times your firewall, you need to allow Mysql's default port '3306'.

TIP: If it keep failing I have found that it help if you uninstall MySQL and remove all Mysql directory's in program files and Mysql User Files and try again.
